Garden City Realty was established in late June of 1973 when Martins Real Estate Company was bought by Eugene (Beau) Forshee, Fred L. Willcox and M. Murray McLendon. The first office was located in a small two-room building at the corner of Dogwood Drive and Atlantic Avenue in Garden City Beach. The office was relocated in the spring of 1978 to its present location at 608 Atlantic Avenue.

In 2001 the Garden City Realty took over the on-site office in the oceanfront Surfmaster building after merged with By the Sea Realty. The Surfmaster office rents approximately sixty 1, 2 and 3 bedroom condominiums and several penthouses on the oceanfront. The company is proud to be a member of and to have actively participated in some organizations. The organizations include Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, Myrtle Beach Area Better Business Bureau, Garden City Beach Community Association, National Association of Realtors, SC Association of Realtors and Coastal Carolina Multiple Listing Service.
